How it works
Three steps — no signup, no stored trail.
1 — Tap Start
Your browser asks for location permission. Allow it once — we never see your coordinates elsewhere.
2 — We measure
We use coords.speed when available, otherwise Haversine distance ÷ time with smoothing.
3 — Stay in control
Pause, resume, reset — or keep the screen awake while tracking. No account, no trail.
Privacy-first — coordinates never leave your device
Processed locally in your browser, never stored on a server. Close the tab and it's gone. Learn how GPS speed is measured →

How does a GPS speedometer work?
It listens to GPS satellites to find your position over time. Speed is either reported directly by your browser (coords.speed) or calculated from distance between fixes with the Haversine formula, then smoothed — we never invent a number.
How accurate is a GPS speedometer?
Outdoors with clear sky it’s typically within 1–3 km/h at steady speed. In tunnels, urban canyons or indoors accuracy drops and we show the ± meters badge so you know — never perfect, usually very good.
What is a GPS speedometer?
A speedometer that uses GPS satellites instead of a vehicle sensor. It works on any device with GPS — phone, tablet or laptop — without extra hardware.
Is a GPS speedometer more accurate than my car's speedometer?
Often yes at steady speed on open road — car speedometers are deliberately set a few percent high for legal safety margin. At low speeds or with weak signal your car’s is more stable, so use GPS as a helpful reference, not a replacement.
Do I need to download an app to use this?
No. Open gpsspeedometer.bond in your browser and tap Start. No install, no signup, nothing is stored.
Does this work without an internet connection?
GPS positioning itself doesn’t need internet once your device has satellite lock. You do need data to load the page the first time; after that you can keep tracking offline.
